The New York Times recently published its coverage of the Equilar 100 CEO Pay Study, an analysis of CEO pay at the 100 largest public U.S. companies as measured by revenue.

Key Findings

Equilar’s analysis revealed several interesting findings.

  1. Three Top Paid CEOs of 2014

    1. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella was the highest paid at $84.3 million. Mr. Nadella became CEO on February 4, 2014.

    2. Larry Ellison of Oracle was second on the list with $67.3 million, a 14% decrease from the previous year. He stepped down from the CEO position on September 17, 2014.

    3. Steven Mollenkopf of Qualcomm rounded out the top three on the list with $60.7 million. Mr. Mollenkopf became CEO on March 4, 2014.

  2. Compensation Trends

    1. Median pay rose 5% for CEOs that served two full fiscal years. Average pay grew by 0.2% for the same group of CEOs.

    2. Of the 100 CEOs, nine are women. The highest paid was Meg Whitman of Hewlett-Packard with $19.6 million in total pay.
