Equilar Participates in Directors & Boards 40th Anniversary Edition

REDWOOD CITY, CA (December 19, 2016)—Equilar congratulates Directors & Boards magazine on its 40th anniversary, and is proud to have participated in the anniversary edition by contributing to three editorial features.

David Chun, Founder and CEO of Equilar, authored a byline article entitled “The Cure for Board Amnesia,” which discussed how boardrooms must make better use of technology in their recruitment efforts.

“We’re very proud to have participated in this milestone issue of Directors & Boards and congratulate them on four decades of success,” said Chun.

Regarding his article, Chun added, “the focus of this issue on board recruiting and diversity touches on one of the most important governance issues today. The old way of asking ‘who do you know?’ simply won’t yield enough qualified candidates for board seats. Great directors are out there, and boards have the opportunity to use big data to find them.”

Chun was also interviewed for the feature “Trends in Board Recruitment,” which focused on diversity more specifically. The piece, written by David Shaw, also included commentary from Judith M. von Seldeneck, Founder and Chairman of Diversified Search. The article outlined how companies seek out diverse perspectives on boards, extending that concept not only to gender and race or ethnicity, but also to age and skillsets. Since baby boomer directors are approaching retirement age as a generation, current boards must be prepared to replace themselves with experienced individuals who are operating in a corporate America with vastly different demographics than what used to be the status quo.

Finally, Equilar Director of Content Amit Batish penned a byline “Three Ways to Start Building Board Diversity.” The “how-to” article acknowledges that adding diverse directors is easier said than done, but every board can put in a recruiting and succession plan that seeks out unique perspectives on an ongoing basis starting with these three steps.
