An analysis of compensation consultant market share at Fortune 1000 companies

With executive compensation issues firmly in the public spotlight, the SEC is once again considering expanded CD&A disclosure requirements. The SEC's most recent proposals include requests for more information on potential conflicts of interests between compensation consultants and the companies they advise. Trends in Fortune 100 CEO Financial Planning Perquisites

In the midst of unprecedented turmoil surrounding the issue of executive compensation, a review of financial planning perquisites at top companies reveals a mixed set of trends. As might be expected, between 2007 and 2008, the median value of financial planning perquisites for Fortune 100 chief executives declined by over 10 percent. Yet, the prevalence of companies offering to pay for financial planning services for their chief executives rose.  Read More (+).

Commissioners Vote Unanimously to Add New Proxy Disclosure Rules

On Wednesday, July 1, the SEC's five Commissioners voted unanimously to propose several new disclosure rules aimed at improving the ability of shareholders to understand compensation and corporate governance practices at public companies. The proposed rules will enter a 60 day comment period after publication in the Federal Register.  Read More (+).
