2011 Top HR Compensation Report
Percentage of HR Executives Receiving Each Award Type

Compensation for a firm's top HR executives typically isn't disclosed in proxy statements, making it difficult to get the details on senior HR officer pay—until now. Equilar's new report, based on our Top 25 Senior Officer Survey, compiles self-reported compensation data from over 750 HR executives. The report delves into components of pay, pay by industry, benefits and perquisites, and more.

A few of the report's findings:

  • The median total compensation for HR executives in Equilar's 2011 Top 25 Survey was $804,552.
  • For the 252 HR executives at companies that participated in both the 2010 and 2011 Surveys, median total compensation rose 4.9 percent year-over-year, while the median value of performance-based awards rose 6.9 percent.
  • Companies in the Energy, Utilities, and Materials industry paid their HR executives the most, while companies in the Business Services industry paid HR execs the least.
