David has led Equilar from a pure start-up since its inception in 2000 to one of the most respected and trusted names in the executive compensation industry. David often speaks publicly on issues facing the executive compensation industry, including events hosted by The Conference Board, Directorship, The HR Policy Association, National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), NASDAQ, National Association of Stock Planning Professionals (NASPP), NYSE Euronext, RiskMetrics, Stanford's Directors' College and WorldatWork.
Prior to founding Equilar, David was a Vice President in the Investment Banking Division of Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette, a global investment bank that has since merged with Credit Suisse. Prior to DLJ, David was a management consultant with Bain & Company, a leading strategy consulting firm, and Kenan Systems, a telecom billing software developer that was subsequently acquired by Lucent Technologies in 1999.
David is a member of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO), a Charter Member of the Asian-American Multi-Technology Association (AAMA), a director of the Asian Pacific Fund, a co-founder of the Korean American Society of Entrepreneurs (KASE), and an advisory board member of The Jackson Hole Group. David earned his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelors of Science with Honors in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia.
Niranjan Samant Vice President of Sales and Client Services
Niranjan Samant oversees Equilar's Sales and Client Services activities and is responsible for accelerating revenue growth. Niranjan has spent more than a decade in high-technology sales management and has a proven track record of building and managing sales teams, opening and expanding new markets, and establishing go-to-market alliances. Most recently, he was Vice President of Sales at Serus, where he was responsible for developing sales strategies, leading the sales team, delivering the product, overseeing client support, and managing the business unit P&L. In his previous roles with Serus, as Director of Sales and as a global sales manager, Niranjan was responsible for several of the company's largest deals and cultivated many long-term customer relationships. He previously served as an account manager for IT Convergence, an enterprise application services provider, and HDFC Bank Ltd. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Mumbai and earned an M.B.A. from San Francisco State University.
Brian Sohmers Senior Director of Products and Technology
Brian Sohmers heads the product management and engineering teams responsible for setting and executing our global product strategy. Prior to Equilar, Brian held positions at Serus, Oracle, and Agile Software where he was responsible for launching industry leading product lifecycle management and supply-chain management products. Brian earned his MBA from the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University and a Bachelors of Chemical Engineering from The University of Dayton.
